General Trall stood on the bridge of his battleship, watching the operation unfold on the main screen. Eighty percent of the deployed soldiers made it to the surface of the planet. He wondered where their human allies were and why they hadn’t joined the fray. Their own resources may not have been up to the rapid deployment task.

Still, the Tol’An attack seemed like it would be more than a match for the paltry defenses they were facing on the surface. Orbit was another matter entirely. The Pahxin committed a large number of vessels to the planet and they were delivering quite the pounding. Chances of them stopping the mission were slim to none.

After all, they couldn’t guess at the purpose Ezria had in mind. Trall found it shocking but he obeyed. The grand scheme of things, the vision of their future, was not his to know. He merely embraced the word of his master and enacted it. He refused to become like Gizan, an out of favor outlaw, hunted throughout the galaxy.

No, he would maintain his honor and fulfill his mission. Without their reinforcements, additional risk had been introduced into the situation but Trall tried to mitigate it by sending additional fighters to the surface to provide cover. He wondered why the military forces of the Pahxin converged on the base.

It didn’t make a great deal of tactical sense other than to protect the Trindishas but wouldn’t they have been better off moving them to a more secure location? Trall knew they were sentimental but allowing the humans to dictate defensive measures seemed foolhardy to say the least.

These pathetic creatures didn’t know how to handle themselves in space. Their survival relied solely on luck, a concept which had finally run out for them. This attack, this assault, would not go down as the last one had. Trall did not underestimate their tenacity or their fortune. He brought an overwhelming number of troops to crush them once and for all.

And once they concluded their business there, they could turn their attention to the Pahxin homeworld. That would be the real prize in Trall’s mind. The one that he had vested interested in. If anyone deserved to be destroyed for their impertinence, their arrogance and pride, it was those self-righteous military bastards.

You never should have drummed me out, Trall thought. I’ll make you all pay for that soon enough.
